Mary J Blige Makes "Mr. Wrong" Seem Irresistible

Summary For Non Readers: Mary J Blige's song Mr. Wrong is a song that validates the negative mentalities of Black women in this era. Black women are already confused by the definition of what a "real man" is. This song makes Black women seem like horny animals who live in heat constantly and can be made submissive through sex even when being abused. Unfortunately it seems to be a story many Black women are addicted to "playing out". It also reinforces the negative notion that Black men who try to be good men are "no fun" and boring. It also leads negative men to believe that as long as they sexually satisfy a woman they can string her along and be abusive.........Shame on Mary for this one.

I'm not going to make this a long post, but I must say I HATE this song. I've always been a big Mary J Blige fan over the years and have all her CD's, but she really lowered her standards to make money on this one.  Here we have a 40 year-old woman singing to a much younger demographic and telling them it's OK to be with "Mr. Wrong". Not only is it OK to be with "Mr. Wrong", but if the "love making" sex is good the song sends the notion you are dealing with a deep dilemma and it's understandable that it's hard to let him go.

When do we stop feeding the notion that rocky relationships make relationships deeper, and that struggle equals passion within a relationship and creates an emotionally intensity that connects two people? The worst part becomes when the notion that good sex can make an abusive relationship worth hanging on to. It's no wonder many Black women of this era seem drained and "ran-through". The only thing a rocky relationship adds is years to a person's body and soul. Often times a woman who has been "ran-through" searching for love while being self-sacrificing to a negative man has an ENERGY of being milked of all her innocence, she becomes like a doormat to walk on. In the subconscious mind of the man she's dating the lack of respect the woman has for herself causes him to "spit" on her with his actions.

Let's take a quick look at the ENERGY of some of Mary's lyrics in the song Mr. Wrong.

First let me mention how ridiculous it is for Mary J Blige to do a song with Drake who is 24 years old. Of course this speaks of "the signs of the time". Music is not spiritual or made to move you in this era. Music is simply made to sell in this day and age. Drake apparently is on top now and so pairing Mary J Blige with Drake is simply a money move and designed to attract attention. Even though she could make a better more passionate song with a Maxwell, John Legend or even have Lupe on the hook, they are not on the top of the charts right now.

Bold 1-- The biggest lie fed to someone is to convince them that material things will make things all better. You can talk to a top hooker, stripper or prostitute who's lavished with materialistic things and find the hardest, loneliest, most bitter women. These women rarely enjoy men or experience true love because the materialistic things they receive aren't given out of love. This leaves a feeling of emptiness that can only look glamorous on T.V. because the spiritual and internal is not revealed.

When you haven't been feeling well all day and can't get a hold of your Mr. Wrong or get him to come by, looking down at an expensive bracelet he gave you right before sex a week ago doesn't feel good. The expensive bracelet will not give special powers to deal with the emptiness and spiritual side of a relationship. 

Bold 2 -- Here we have Mary playing into the mentalities of many negative Black women in this era. She recites what has become cliche and a belief amongst many. "Bad Boys are fun and Good Guys are boring". It makes me wish that her gospel singer sister would slap the spit out of her mouth. The very idea that being with a "Bad Boy" is exciting and fun, turns the lives of women who buy into this upside down. They buy into illusions and suffer the most. In turn it creates many negative trickle effects in the community. Many of these women have children with these men and their dysfunction spreads to them.

Most Black women, particularly young Black girls don't know the joy and delight in being with a Black man who tries to be a good man and respectable person. They don't understand that the ENERGY of man like this means anything can be created. You can go anywhere and do anything with someone who aims to be a good person. The ENERGY of good guys is not a boring one. Usually they are the most diverse and open-minded. Due to all humans being initially good, many men have to force themselves to be negative, ignore the effect of their negativity and become "harden". Most negative Black men are playing a role and will not allow a woman to deter them from this role. After-all one of the ENERGIES of their roles is to "juggle women" and not allow a woman to become too dominate in their life.

Bold 3 -- Here Mary states that she can't leave Mr. Wrong because sex with him is so good. Mary should understand that spreading this type of mentality helps lock young girls into bad situations. Many are programmed from the start of a relationship that sex can make a bad relationship worthwhile and be used as a tool. Being fed this mentality creates or illusion and spiritual pain because a man involved in a relationship where he can use the woman does not make love to her soul. She becomes a convenient warm body that "never says no'.

God created a Metaphysical Universe with Laws of Nature, that state a person can not truly love or respect a person in a relationship if the person does not respect themselves. A man will not respect a woman who he's allowed to use, he might be able to feel a woman's love for him, but he won't be able to resist doing what the women allows him to do even though it hurts her.

Bold 4-- Many women don't realize how much of an object their body becomes. This verse is the tone throughout the song; "I can't end this relationship, the sex is too good". Note the ENERGY of being like a "call girl". A woman should never sleep with a man in a relationship where she's being mistreated. It's the worst thing she can do and makes her become like a toilet. She becomes like a toilet because she allows her body her most prized possession and temple to be used under circumstances where it should be preserved and cherished. When a man can use a woman even when she's being mistreated he increasingly becomes desensitized by the emotions and reactions of the woman. Her hurt feelings, sadness and anger becomes something he can bear.

Bold 5-- In this verse Mary ignores her families cautions and once again conveys that she's such an animal in heat she's addicted to the love Mr. Wrong puts on her. A woman can create wonderful love and sex with any man she's spiritually attached to if she wanted to. Being attached to someone despite how they treat you just to have sex with them once again reserves the woman to this position in a man's life. She becomes something to lean on and use for a purpose.

Anyway, How Do I fight these ENERGIES while striving to create a level of "shame"in our culture and communities so that they improve?

I will not purchase this CD My Life 2, nor will support any promotion or shows she appears on for this CD.

There use to be a time when you could run out and just buy the CD of any celebrity you admired, those times are over. Now mainstream celebrities create songs with agendas and based on trends. They're paired with the hottest celebrity out and design their lyrics to satisfy the low moral and esteem of many listeners.

Mainstream music does not uplift you, inspire you or take you away in this era. Instead it validates all the negativity that keeps a person's life spiritually low. Music today placates the player, the cheater, the abuser, and the sexually promiscuous. Should there be a wonder as to why these are strong ENERGIES in the community.  Mentalities create unison ENERGIES that grow to affect the thinking of many.

To bad this is not a race full of attentive people who oversee what's going on in the culture and cause a commotion through NO SUPPORT when an artist who likes to be considered responsible blatantly feeds the community what it does not need. Anything goes in our culture and with our artist.
